CHOOSE YOUR OWN COLOURS and design your own beautiful starburst millefiori cane!  The most economical way to buy murrini for use in your fusing designs.

Choose between an 8-stringer or a 12-stringer design.  After you have placed your order I will email the email address used at checkout to discuss your design with you and then please allow two weeks for me to make and ship your custom cane!

FAQ:

How many chips will I get?

• You will receive all the chips from a murrini cane, of a SINGLE 5-layer starburst design, weighing in total 50-60 grams.  
• Depending on the diameter the cane will be between 70 (6mm diameter) and 90cm (5mm diameter) long. 
• On average, a cane yeilds 120-150 chips. 

Can I have any colours at all?

• The colour and order of colours will be to your specifications, within the constraints of the murrini making process.  I will work with you to design the cane using my knowledge and experience of using bullseye glass in flameworking.  PLEASE NOTE that some combinations/colours will not be possible because of the quirks of individual glass types.

Will the canes be cut for me?

• Canes will be cut into ~3mm high chips, for no extra cost.  This is the right height to allow maximum number of chips from the cane, but without causing the chips to have angled faces, which will result in distorted designs on firing.  If you don't want your canes cut, please let me know.  They have to be cut for shipping to < 30cm lengths.  If you're using pattern-bar style moulds, let me know the length and I can cut the maximum number of segments at this length from the cane that I can.

Can I use these canes to make vitrigraph-style drop out bowls?

• The short answer is no, because you need surprisingly large amounts of murrine to make a decent sized puck to drop. You will have enough 3mm chips from one custom cane to cover an area of approximately 7-9cm square.  You will need to fuse a 3mm layer of tekta on top to reach 6mm thickness.

What is the turnaround time?

• Please allow two weeks for me to create your canes and send you pictures of your designs to approve.
